2003 original course designed by the Scottish   Anglers National Association and Constable Knight
Funding / sponsorship arranged by Constable   Humphrey, Tayside Police
15th March 2004 AFYD launched in East Renfrew
May 2007 AFYD launched in Perthshire.
January 2008 AFYD
became largest Angling Training
organisation in Scotland. Charitable Trust status  obtained
for AFYD.
May 2008 AFYD launched in Paisley, Renfrewshire
Sept 2008 AFYD launched in West Lothian
June 2009 Scottish Qualifications Authority credit  rated AFYD Game Angling Course
at level 5 with 26 credit points
January 2010 AFYD launched in Lanarkshire
January 2010 Government of Republic of Ireland  Central Fisheries Board form AFYD Ireland.
March 2010 AFYD achieves in excess of 100 Level
2 qualified Angling Coaches
May 2010 AFYD launched in Orkney
Jan 2011 AFYD launched in Wigtownshire
Jan 2011 Grev
Humphrey awarded Scottish Rural Heroes Award by Scottish Countyside Alliance
for work with AFYD

Our aim is to offer people of all backgrounds and abilities opportunities to participate in the sport of angling, thereby improving their quality of life.
OUR OBJECTIVES ARE:
Provide safety awareness through education and good practice.
Develop young people's skills and self-confidence.
Encourage responsible and positive participation within the
sport and the community.
Raise awareness of all participants
for environmental issues.
Provide instruction of the highest quality in angling techniques   and etiquette.
Support any participant wishing to obtain recognised qualifications  in angling and angling related subjects.
Divert people away from anti-social behaviour and thereby reduce  crime, to create safer communities |
